Settings
Open Settings from the gear in the left column, or from Ctrl K. The top of the window shows the version and, during the beta, how many days are left. Settings marked “restart” take effect the next time Warpstead starts.
Appearance
- Theme: dark or light, at once.
- Interface size: 85, 100, 115 or 130%. It changes the buttons and panels, not the canvas, and this is the only place to change it: Ctrl + wheel zooms the canvas only.
- Language: English or Italiano (restart).
Windows and screens
- Fullscreen and Always on top for Warpstead’s own window (restart).
Engines
- AI engine: install or remove the local AI, and reclassify your apps. See Local AI.
Search
- The folders that Alt Space indexes, and the ones it skips. See Search.
Advanced
- Thumbnail cache: Clear cache empties the stored thumbnails and file icons; they’re made again as you browse.
- After a crash: Restart Warpstead after a crash, on or off.
Help
- Hold F1: labels appear on every part of the screen, with a legend of the gestures that have no button. Let go and they disappear. The ? in the left column keeps them on screen until you click it again or press Esc. Inside a program that has the keyboard, F1 goes to the program, as it should.
- Hints: now and then a short hint appears where it’s useful (“Search files with Alt+Space”, “Drag an edge to resize”). Each one goes away for good once you’ve done what it says.
- Keyboard shortcuts: ? or Ctrl / opens the list. All of them are also in Keyboard and mouse.
Screenshots
Ctrl Shift S, or the Screenshot button at the top right. Drag to capture an area, or press Enter for the whole screen. The picture is saved as a PNG in your Screenshots folder (Pictures\Screenshots, where Windows puts its own) and copied to the clipboard, so it also appears in the Clipboard node.
Reporting a problem
Ctrl K → Report a problem. Write what happened, add your email if you want an answer, and choose whether to attach the diagnostics. Show what is sent shows exactly what would go, before you send it.
Without the diagnostics, only your text, your email and the versions of Warpstead and Windows are sent. The diagnostics are Warpstead’s logs, which can contain the names of files, windows and websites you used. Nothing is sent until you press Send.
You get a reference code. If sending fails, you can copy the report and email it to us.
After a crash, Warpstead offers to send a report the next time it starts. It’s the same window, and it’s still up to you.
Founder price
During the beta, Warpstead asks you whether you want to register this PC for the founder price. Press Register this PC and leave your email: we send you a confirmation, and once you confirm, the price is kept for you when early access opens. Nothing is sent until you press the button. What is sent and how long we keep it is in the privacy policy.
You can also do it later from Settings, with Keep the founder price next to the version number, and change the email from there.
